De Bezige Bij (The Busy Bee) Cartoons

These 12 color cartoon postcards were published in 1945 by De Bezige Bij (The Busy Bee) in German-occupied Holland. The Dutch cartoonist, Karel Links, created the anti-Nazi underground cartoons, which is titled "Het is Niet Waar...Dat Hebben We Niet Gewild" ("It's not true...We did not want that!"). The images depict the Nazis taking items such as radio sets, bicycles, copper and brass objects, and even dogs.

'Slam the Axis' Postcards

20th Century Postcard Album

This 20th century postcard album contains approximately 274 individual postcards and 14 multiple postcard collections that date between 1906 and the 1960s. Many of the postcards include correspondence and significant portions are addressed to the same individual (Julia Francis of Woodhaven, Long Island, New York). The postcards depict scenes from both World Wars, buildings and scenery in America and Europe, photographs of the sender, seasonal imagery, and racist depictions of African Americans. There are also several different types of formats that the postcards are presented in, such as raised decorations, wood, silk, embroidery, and one of a woman with wool hair. There is no apparent arrangement of the postcards.

Albert and Bettie Morris papers

The Albert and Bettie Morris papers document their lives as long-time residents of Salisbury, Maryland, and include early family records of Rosa Lee Tilghman Morris as well as correspondence, biographical information, printed materials, newspapers and artifacts. The materials date from 1895-2008 with the bulk of the material dating from 1941-1979. Dr. Morris’ extensive World War II service record is documented and includes correspondence, service papers and photographic documentation of his encounter with General Dwight D. Eisenhower. Also included are the records of the Eastern Shore Opera and Symphony Societies as well as ephemera from many other local historic and symphonic organizations.

Album de la Revolucion Cubana, 1952-1959

This album, published by Editorial Echevarria in 1960 for the Ministry of Commerce, consists of trading cards that consumers collected when purchasing goods from the CIA Industrial Empacadora de Dulces, S.A.. Each trading card, complete with illustrations of the revolution's leaders and major figures, includes an explanatory subtitle that tells the story of the Cuban Revolution from 1952 to 1959. Illustrations by J.M. Picart and text by Mario Jimenez.

American Labor Poster Illustrations

Anne Morris Clay papers

The papers of Anne Morris Clay document her occupation as a land records researcher in the Maryland counties of Wicomico and Worcester. The materials date from 1886-1997 with a bulk of materials dating from 1980-1997. Materials include correspondence and research material regarding Cherie Cozin's Purnell property off Shore Side Road in Dames Quarter as well as June Petit's Simpleton property and correspondence with Dave Nutter pertaining to the property Nutter’s Neck. Materials also include transcriptions of the 1759-1865 land documents, 17th-century certificates of land patent, 18th-century deeds, 19th century Acworth Plat, and deeds for Nutter’s Neck. In addition, there are research materials on Sampson Burbage (1818-1881) and his properties in Powellsville. Also, there are property research records regarding William Hull's Muddy Hole Road and Tyaskin properties and a biography of Milford W. Twilley. A portion of the materials belonged to Ruth Harcum’s father, Benjamin Franklin Kennerly, Jr. who was the mayor of Salisbury from 1912-1914. Also included are books from the Morris, Kennerly, and Harcum families. Additional items include postcards with personal correspondence to Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. Harcum and other family members dating to the early twentieth century. Histories of Wicomico County and ephemera pertaining to the Sesqui-bi-centennial can also be found in this collection. Wicomico County specific improvement plans including the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area Program and the Salisbury Metro Core Comprehensive Plan have also been incorporated into this collection. This collection also includes a unique collection of sexual education booklets and Victorian-era autograph albums.
